Glen Martin Taylor, Walk Son, The Artist’s Way
I thought I would share some people, things, music, and words that inspire me. I hope you find them just as captivating.
Glen Martin Taylor
I find myself especially drawn to expressions of creativity where I have little experience. Writers have always impressed me. Perhaps it is my inability to verbalize my thoughts as clearly as I would like, that drew me to painting and visual art. In any case, I think he’s genius.
I am also a sucker for contradiction and paradox. The delicate china, the frailty of it, along with barbed wire, knives, scissors, rust. They don’t cancel each other out. they coexist, elevating and enhancing each other. They drive each other’s existence further into relevance.
I’m not sure if that made any sense, but I warned you, these blogs are full of nonsensical ramblings.
Check out his stuff here.
Walk Son Music
I had the utter privilege of seeing both of Walk Son’s first performances in the last couple of weeks.
Walker and I have been friends for over 6 years. For those of you that don’t know him, he is extremely charismatic, kind, compassionate, and thoughtful.
His music captures the uniquely human experiences of love, loss, longing, and connection. A perfect harmony of folk, indie, finger-style, and that one thing you can’t quite describe. It is evident that the creative force guiding us all flows through him resulting in a universal experience gently characterized by the impossible intricacies that make up Walker Wasson.
He doesn’t have music available on platforms but here is his instagram. Go bug him and tell him to release these treasures to the world, where they were born and where they should live.
The Artist’s Way
The past month or so I have been doing a course in “a spiritual path to higher creativity” called the Artist’s Way. If you haven’t read or heard of this book, please go buy it, read it, do it, live it. It has been extremely transformative as well as extremely trying and difficult, as most important things in life are. I am thankful for it. Anyways, here is a quote from the book that evoked such a sense of responsibility in me.
